A typical weekday at 33Prospect begins with a mandatory morning meeting. The usual topics include relapse prevention, money management, budgeting, life planning, resume building, employment preparation, volunteering and self exploration. The residents are held accountable for their own goals and, each afternoon, the women work toward the fulfillment and achievement of these goals.
33Prospect staff works with all of the residents on an individual basis to address and manage any concerns and we maintain involvement with each woman’s schedule and activities. We believe that a combination of scheduled time and meditative time is crucial to healthy, balanced living therefore we strongly encourage participation in our weekly yoga program. For those women who may have medical needs, we have contracted with a local, outside nursing agency to administer medications and communicate with doctors.
Residents are expected to be active members of the Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous community. Attending daily meetings builds a network of support and sponsorship, creating their future community. Breathalyzers are administered twice per day and random drug screens occur, at minimum, one time per week.
Each woman is responsible for a chore within the house. Not only does this teach a work ethic, but also cements the importance of living in a clean home. The more effort one puts into home maintenance, the more pride is gained. To those in it, 33Prospect is not just a program; it’s their home. In accordance with the house rules, residents check in at 4:00 in the afternoon and return in the evening by 9:30 curfew.
Saturdays and Sundays are set aside as Family Days so that residents are able to spend quality time with their families. Additionally, twice a month, family members are invited to attend a support meeting to provide them the skills and resources they need to assist their loved one in her sober living once they return home. With so much to do in the Greater Litchfield, Torrington and Northwest Connecticut area, residents are sure to find a wealth of exciting indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy with their loved ones.
